My work sits at the intersection of existential philosophy, neuroscience and clinical practice – focused thematically on performance, identity, meaning and the gap between how life looks and how it feels.
My postgraduate research explores an existential understanding of the problematic use of pornography and its relationship to male identity, shame and emotional disconnection. I present on the neuroscience of psychotherapy to trainee counsellors and provide research supervision for postgraduate psychotherapy students.
I adhere to the ethical frameworks of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Universities Psychotherapy & Counselling Association (UPCA) and hold an enhanced DBS certificate. I attend regular supervision sessions with a qualified supervisor to ensure my work remains reflective, ethical and effective.
I began with a doctorate in neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, driven by a fascination with the human experience and what drives our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Working in neuroscience research and development for pharmaceutical companies taught me how medication can ease symptoms of psychological distress – but also revealed the limits of a one-size-fits-all approach.
In medical education, I developed evidence-based behaviour-change programmes for healthcare professionals and patients, reinforcing my belief that lasting change must be personal, not prescriptive.
Later, when leading and coaching diverse teams in global creative healthcare agencies, I saw how background, motivation, working identity and emotional context shape how people work, relate and grow. I also saw the power of being truly heard – and the transformation that happens when someone feels understood.
That led me to train as an existential psychotherapist and coach, where I could make this kind of deep, personalised work central to my practice.
