SUMMARY:Members' Forum: PCPB Consultation on Conversion Practices and GSRD Good Practice 28th October 2026 7-9PM uk time on Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Help shape SEA’s response to the PCPB consultation on conversion practices and GSRD good practice\nThis event is for SEA members only.\n  \nA 12-week consultation has opened on work to define conversion practices and set out good practice principles for psychological professionals working with gender\, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD). \nThe work is being carried out by the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB)\, of which UKCP is a part\, the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP)\, and is led by an independent development team. The consultation covers two draft outputs: a working definition of conversion practices\, and draft good practice principles that apply to work with both adults and children. \nThe consultation opened on Tuesday\, 25 August and closes at midday on Tuesday\, 17 November 2026. \nAs an organisational member\, we believe the SEA should submit a considered\, collective response that reflects an existential perspective on this work. We want to bring members together to help shape this response. \nWe are therefore inviting members to a two-hour discussion to go through the consultation documents together\, talk through where we agree\, where we have questions or concerns\, and how we want to frame SEA’s submission. \nThis Members’ Forum is free. Please register your name to receive the access link to the meeting \nBookings close at midnight 0n the 26th of October. Zoom links will be sent 24 hours before the event. \nA certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees upon request by writing to events@existentialanalysis.org.uk \nIf you would like to propose an event please get in touch.

SUMMARY:SEA Conference 2026: Difficult Conversations: Power\, Care\, and Existentialism. Saturday 7th of November 2026 @ 9 am to 5 pm UK Time. In-Person Only.
DESCRIPTION:SEA Conference 2026\nDifficult Conversations: Power\, Care\, and Existentialism\nJoin us for a day long conference as we explore the intersections of “Difficult Conversations: Power\, Care\, and Existentialism”. The world today feels more explicitly fraught—divided by schisms that run through families\, generations\, and systems. From grappling with unfamiliar ways of being to navigating the plausible threats to our existence\, the modern human experience is being tested in ways we have never faced before. In a climate where psychotherapy is often reduced to “improvement” rather than “care\,” finding spaces to truly confront\, explore\, and feel is vital. We believe existentialism offers unmatched potential to meet these challenges.\n\nNiki D will be offering a keynote titled Imperfect Allies: Whiteness\, Cisnormativity and the Ethics of Staying with Discomfort. There will be themes around death\, caregiving\, love\, therapy\, mediation and otherness as a mix of new speakers and old hands offer their research\, thoughts and experience to the existential community to enable\, encourage and illicit difficult conversations both on the day and in our work and lives going forward.\n\n\nSpace is limited. Book early to avoid disappointment. \nTHIS CONFERENCE IS IN PERSON ONLY. \nAddress: NCVO Regents Wharf\, 8 All Saints St\, London N1 9RL \nDate:  7th of November 2026\nTime: 9 am to 5 pm GMT \nA Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to attendees. \nCost: £70 – £170. \nIf you have any dietary requirements or questions about the conference\, please email sea.conference.organisers@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Title: The Self in the Absence of Recognition: An Existential Inquiry into Care\, Power and the Legacy of Narcissistic Parenting - Tatiana Zegrean - 8th December 2026 @7-9pm uk on zoom
DESCRIPTION:The Self in the Absence of Recognition: An Existential Inquiry into Care\, Power and the Legacy of Narcissistic Parenting.\nTatiana Zegrean \n  \nThis presentation explores parental narcissistic abuse through the existential concepts of recognition\, care and power. While parenting is commonly associated with care\, the experience of care can become complicated when the child’s needs\, feelings and emerging sense of self are subordinated to the needs of the parent. Drawing on existential thought\, the presentation considers what happens when the child is not fully recognised as a separate person with their own experience\, wishes and possibilities. \n  \nParticular attention is given to the ways in which power may operate through subtle relational processes rather than overt domination alone. Within narcissistic parent–child relationships\, parental needs may come to shape these dynamics\, influencing how the child experiences themselves and their relationships with others and the world. \n  \nSituated within a phenomenological and existential framework\, the presentation brings attention to experiences that often remain hidden\, minimised or difficult to speak about within families and wider society. It considers how these relational dynamics may continue to influence selfhood long after childhood\, including a person’s capacity to trust their own experience\, become aware of their own wishes and choices\, and develop their own sense of what matters. \n  \nThis opens a further question of what it may mean to learn to live a life that feels more fully one’s own and to recognise new possibilities for being. \n  \n \nTatiana Zegrean is a doctoral candidate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling/Middlesex University. She holds degrees in education and psychology and has over thirty years of experience working with young people and adults across educational and care settings. \n  \nHer academic and clinical interests lie at the intersection of existential psychotherapy\, selfhood\, meaning-making and relational experience. Her current doctoral research explores selfhood following parental narcissistic abuse\, with particular attention to how individuals experience and make sense of who they are in its aftermath. \n  \nTatiana is a published author in the fields of psychology\, counselling and psychotherapy. Her work is informed by a commitment to phenomenological inquiry and to understanding human experience\, as well as by her clinical work with clients and the questions that emerge through therapeutic practice \nBookings close at midnight 0n the 6th of December. Zoom links will be sent 24 hours before the event. \nA certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees upon request by writing to \n events@existentialanalysis.org.uk \nIf you would like to propose an event please get in touch. \n  \n
