DESCRIPTION:Philosophical Perspectives in Therapy – Re-Enchanting Practice \nHannah Arendt\, the Banality of Evil and Mental Health \nTheme: From calculative thinking to reflective\, ethical presence. \nFocus: Arendt’s notions of estrangement and the “banality of evil” as moods revealing the need for thoughtfulness in therapy. \nContent Overview: \nArendt’s own experience of exile and estrangement as existential disruption. \nThe movement from self-absorption to reflective engagement. \nThe ethical dimension of care and thoughtfulness in therapy. \nCase illustration: Working through toxicity and alienation in professional practice. \nLearning Outcome: Therapists will explore how thoughtfulness can transform defensive self-absorption into reflective\, ethical action. \nDr Steven Segal is a psychotherapist and academic consultant. He has a PhD in Philosophy of Education which allows him to bring a depth and breadth of philosophy into his practices. He has published two books\, edited two books and has written over 30 peer reviewed articles in a diverse range of disciplines including leadership\, education\, philosophy\, psychotherapy and research.
