SUMMARY:The Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy: Join the Conversation - 12th of March from 7 pm to 9 pm UK Time on Zoom.
DESCRIPTION:The Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy: Join the Conversation \nAs part of the ongoing Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy in the UK established by the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB)\, of which the UKCP is a partner\, a call for evidence has been put out in order to get the views and input from anyone with an involvement or interest in the future of counselling and psychotherapy. Submissions can be made until 1200 on Friday 27th March. \nUKCP registered members will already have received an invitation to submit their views in an email that was sent out by the UKCP on 20th January 2025 titled “Have your say: contribute to the Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy”. Not all SEA members are registered in the UK as psychotherapists\, but all our members are nevertheless stakeholders in this important conversation\, and as such have also been invited to submit their views\, here: https://www.pcpb.org.uk/about-partnership/policy-and-engagement/commission-on-the-future-of-counselling-and-psychotherapy-professions/#Submitting%20evidence \nAs a professional body\, the SEA is also planning to make a submission on behalf of our members. As well as encouraging you to submit your own views individually we would welcome any input and direction around what should be included in the SEA submission. \nThe call for evidence is looking at four thematic areas: \nState of the sector \nWhat experience and/or evidence do you have about how counselling and psychotherapy positively contributes to mental health support across the UK? \nRegulation of the professions \nFollowing increased political and public attention on counselling and psychotherapy and how the professions are regulated\, the Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy has included regulation within its scope. \nEvidence and research \nHow can existing research be better used to show the value of counselling and psychotherapy? \nFuture of the professions \nWhat are the biggest opportunities and threats for counselling and psychotherapy over the next five years? \nThis is an important consultation and we strongly encourage you to engage\, to ensure that your voice and the voice(s) of existential psychotherapy are heard. \nWe welcome written submissions by email for those who either cannot attend the event or would prefer to put something in writing. The deadline for these emails is 12noon on Sunday 15th March.
