Romanticism’s revolt against rationalism and its enduring influence on humanistic and expressive therapies.
Content Overview:
The Romantic turn from reason to emotion, intuition, and subjectivity.
Storytelling, metaphor, and imagination as pathways to healing.
The creative self in art, music, and writing therapies.
The Romantic relation to nature and the roots of eco-therapy.
Learning Outcome:
Participants will understand how Romanticism’s emphasis on emotion and imagination can re-enchant the therapeutic process and restore the sense of wonder and belonging.
Dr Steven Segal is a psychotherapist and academic consultant. He has a PhD in Philosophy of Education which allows him to bring a depth and breadth of philosophy into his practices. He has published two books, edited two books and has written over 30 peer reviewed articles in a diverse range of disciplines including leadership, education, philosophy, psychotherapy and research. He was an associate professor at Macquarie University where he spent twenty-two years joyfully engaging MBA students in the delights of philosophy and psychotherapy.
