Help shape SEA’s response to the PCPB consultation on conversion practices and GSRD good practice
A 12-week consultation has opened on work to define conversion practices and set out good practice principles for psychological professionals working with gender, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD).
The work is being carried out by the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB), of which UKCP is a part, the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), and is led by an independent development team. The consultation covers two draft outputs: a working definition of conversion practices, and draft good practice principles that apply to work with both adults and children.
The consultation opened on Tuesday, 25 August and closes at midday on Tuesday, 17 November 2026.
As an organisational member, we believe the SEA should submit a considered, collective response that reflects an existential perspective on this work. We want to bring members together to help shape this response.
We are therefore inviting members to a two-hour discussion to go through the consultation documents together, talk through where we agree, where we have questions or concerns, and how we want to frame SEA’s submission.
