Existential Reflections on Motherhood May 10th 10am-12noon
May 10, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
£15.00A Forum for Existential Psychotherapists who are mothers of children of up to ten years old, to explore experiences during the coronavirus lockdown.
Facilitated by Monia Brizzi & Naomi Stadlen
We warmly invite existential psychotherapists who are mothers of young children under 10 to join us in a forum to explore experiences during the coronavirus lockdown. Some of us are used to leading busy professional lives and counted on nurseries, nannies and schools to look after our children during the day, but, for the moment, this has changed. We can discuss your immediate responses, how you manage each day, as well as more confusing and unstructured ideas you may have had.
Monia Brizzi is a mother and an existential counselling psychologist. She specialises in working with issues of createdness and natality – the coming into being of new experience – in everyday life, psychotherapy, and art.
Naomi Stadlen is a mother and grandmother, and an existential psychotherapist who specialises in seeing mothers. She has published three books: What Mothers Do – especially when it looks like nothing (2004); How Mothers Love – and how relationships are born (2011); and What Mothers Learn – without being taught (2020). She has contributed a chapter ‘The Existential Freedom of Mothers’ to the forthcoming book, The Existential Crisis of Motherhood, edited by Claire Arnold Baker. She teaches the Family Systems course at NSPC.
